Transparency Maldives is a non-political organization that promotes collaboration, awareness and other initiatives to improve governance and eliminate corruption from the daily lives of people. Our organization is the National Contact of Transparency International (TI) in the Maldives. We received formal registration from the Ministry of Home Affairs on 19 July 2007.
We aim to be a constructive force in the Maldives by encouraging discussion on transparency, accountability, and the fight against corruption. Transparency Maldives seeks to engage with stakeholders from all sectors (government, business, politics, civil society, media, among others) to raise awareness on corruption's detrimental effects on development and society.
Although based in Male', the country's capital, we view fighting corruption, increasing transparency and accountability, and improving governance as national issues and our activities extend to the islands.
Transparency Maldives envisions a Maldives in which government, politics, business, civil society, and the daily lives of all people shall be free from corruption.
Transparency Maldives strives to act as catalyst for reforms that improve transparency and accountability in all sectors; raise public awareness of and initiate public discussion on corruption and its detrimental effects on society and development; and collaborate with individuals and groups from government, businesses, media, and civil society, among others, in the fight against corruption.
Transparency Maldives values transparency, accountability, integrity, solidarity, courage, justice, and democracy.

10. The association shall work to build relationships with other civil society organizations locally and internationally.
Transparency International, the global civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption, brings people together in a powerful worldwide coalition to end the devastating impact of corruption on men, women and children around the world. TI’s mission is to create change towards a world free of corruption.
Transparency International challenges the inevitability of corruption, and offers hope to its victims. Since its founding in 1993, TI has played a lead role in improving the lives of millions around the world by building momentum for the anti-corruption movement. TI raises awareness and diminishes apathy and tolerance of corruption, and devises and implements practical actions to address it.
Transparency International is a global network including more than 90 locally established national chapters, chapters-in-formation, and national contacts. These bodies fight corruption in the national arena in a number of ways. They bring together relevant players from government, civil society, business and the media to promote transparency in elections, in public administration, in procurement and in business. TI’s global network of chapters and contacts also use advocacy campaigns to lobby governments to implement anti-corruption reforms.
Politically non-partisan, TI does not undertake investigations of alleged corruption or expose individual cases, but at times will work in coalition with organisations that do.
TI has the skills, tools, experience, expertise and broad participation to fight corruption on the ground, as well as through global and regional initiatives.
Now in its second decade, Transparency International is maturing, intensifying and diversifying its fight against corruption.
